Arthritis Foundation
Ease-of-Use Commendation
Dr. Brad Fein, Georgia Tech Research Institute
The Georgia Tech Research Institute has a long history in the area of designer products that are easy to use for everyone. The accessibility evaluation facility specializes measuring the Ease-of-Use of devices, services and packaging and the development of universal design solutions.
This experience allows us to provide the necessary framework and process for evaluating products for the Arthritis Foundation Ease-of-Use program.
While the lab evaluations using torque meters, pressure gauges and other devices are vitally important in understanding products, some of the most revealing feedback comes from hands-on testing that includes people who actually have arthritis.
A variety of consumers with arthritis are observed as they interact with the products under test, and their performance is monitored by trained product evaluators. Once a product meets the Ease-of-Use technical specifications and receives a passing evaluation from GTRI, it then becomes eligible for the Ease-of-Use program.
